Over the past few months we've worked closely with Houghton Regis Town Council to submit an application to register Windsor Drive Open Space as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) with Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC).
We are really proud to announce our application has been successful and the land has been registered as an ACV for the next 5 years.
What does that mean? If CBC want to build on Windsor Drive Open Space they have to follow a strict process over a period of months to make it happen, taking away the threat of CBC being able to "Build on it tomorrow if we want to" and giving Groups like ours a chance to push back.
We believe the ACV status adds big weight to the argument as to why Windsor Drive Open Space should not be built on, we are absolutely over the moon to have achieved this status.
A huge thank you to the Houghton Regis Town Clerk Clare Evans for submitting the application and to our CBC Ward Councillors, Cllr Susan Goodchild and Cllr Yvonne Farrell for endorsing the application, and CBC Ward Councillors Cllr Pat Hamill Tracey McMahon Was Pinchess Chloe Tanaka Alderman and our Mayor Jimmy William Carroll for their encouragement and commitment. The support from CPRE Bedfordshire and from our MP Andrew Selous has been amazing, thank you.
But most of all, thank you to all of you for keeping up your support of this group, with a special call out to the 30 plus people, councillors, organisations and clubs who gave testimonials in support of our application, I'll be adding a rollcall later as your input is what made this happen.
Please remember, CBC can review the ACV at any time in the next 5 years so we need to keep on doing what we are all doing and use it or we could still lose it.
Thank you
Your Friends of Windsor Drive Committee
