Over this weekend we are encouraging as many people as possible to get onto Windsor Drive Open Space and record every living thing they see.
It’s not an organised event, there won’t be gazebos or stalls, this is something you can do on your own or with family and friends.
There’s a choice of 2 App’s you can use, iRecord and iNaturalist, search for the Friends of Windsor Drive activity to make sure everything you record is tagged to the right place and recorded as finds against Windsor Drive Open Space.
Remember, the beauty of this activity is if Central Beds Council decide to build, they have to check this data to see what’s on the field, it may not stop them building but it will help to delay them should something on the endangered list be recorded. We know we have at list 1 species on the endangered list, House Wrens, please see if you can spot more.
Louise Rackham Smith has put together a really great step by step guide on how to get iRecord onto your phones so you can upload all the plants, animals, birds and insects (basically anything alive!) you find on Windsor Drive Open Space. Thanks Louise ❤️
You'll find the guide in the photos and I've attached a copy in the comments below.
You only need to go through uploading the App/s once, it can then be stored on your phone for you to use whenever you want, for your own garden or for the next Windsor Drive survey later in the year. We are really hoping to gather some great data to help us understand more about the wildlife on Windsor Drive.
Please post any questions you might have in the comments and one of us will get back to you as soon as we can.
A ruler and some gloves may be useful, but not essential.
It’s actually a really interesting and fun activity to do
